EACL 2026
Call for Workshops
The 19th Conference of the European Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics (EACL 2026) invites proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with the conference. We solicit proposals in all areas of computational linguistics, broadly conceived to include related disciplines such as linguistics, speech, information retrieval, and multimodal processing.
Workshops will be held at the same venue as the main EACL 2026 conference.
This is a shared call with ACL 2026.
Important Dates
- Proposal submission deadline: 5 September 2025
- Notification of acceptance: 22 September 2025
All deadlines are 11:59 PM UTC-12:00 (“anywhere on Earth”).
Submission Information
Proposals should be submitted as PDF documents, should not be more than four pages long (two pages for the main proposal and two pages for supplementary information), and should use the official ACL style templates. Submissions should be ready to be turned into a Call for Papers to the workshop within one week of notification.
The two pages for the main proposal must include:
- A title and a brief description of the workshop topic and content.
- A list of invited speakers, if applicable, with an indication of which ones have already agreed.
- An estimate of the number of attendees.
- A discussion of measures planned to ensure the workshop is successful and productive for both in-person and virtual attendees.
- (Optional) A description of any shared tasks associated with the workshop and an estimate of the number of participants.
- A description of special requirements and technical needs.
- A section on Diversity and Inclusion Efforts (see details below).
- If the workshop has been held before, a summary of where it was held, the number of submissions and acceptances, and the number of attendees.
The two pages for supplementary information must include:
- The names, affiliations, and email addresses of the organizers, with a brief statement on their research interests, expertise, and organizational experience.
- A list of Program Committee members, with an indication of which members have already agreed. Organizers should ensure the PC is large enough to handle the expected number of submissions.
- An indication of whether the workshop will use a platform like OpenReview to accept papers from ACL Rolling Review (ARR) or for its own reviewing process.
- References.
Submission is electronic, and the link to the submission system will be posted here when available.
The workshop proposals will be evaluated according to their originality and impact, and the quality of the organizing team and Programme Committee. Note that the only financial support available to workshops is a single free workshop registration for one invited speaker.
Diversity and Inclusion
Proposals should describe the ways in which the workshop will support diversity in NLP. We suggest organizers consider the following:
- Contribution to academic diversity: Explain how the workshop’s subject will contribute to the diversity of the field (e.g., focusing on under-resourced languages, accessibility, supporting underrepresented communities, etc.).
- Diversifying representation: Describe how your selection of invited speakers, panelists, and organizers promotes diverse representation (considering gender, ethnicity, nationality, affiliation, seniority, etc.). We encourage including new voices who have not recently been keynote speakers at major conferences.
- Diversifying participation: Describe your outreach plan to encourage people from marginalized groups to attend and submit to the workshop (e.g., by providing mentoring, coordinating with affinity groups, etc.).
Organizer Responsibilities
The organizers of accepted proposals will be responsible for publicizing and running the workshop, including reviewing submissions, producing the camera-ready workshop proceedings, and organizing the meeting days. It is crucial that organizers commit to all deadlines. Organizers are also responsible for ensuring all participants are aware of ACL’s anti-harassment policy.
The ACL has a set of policies on workshops. You can find the ACL’s general policies on workshops, the financial policy for workshops, and the financial policy for SIG workshops in the ACL Conference Handbook.
Workshop Timelines
The timeline for workshop paper submission, reviewing, and camera-ready preparation will be announced after the workshop proposals have been accepted.
Workshop Chairs
The Workshop Chairs for EACL 2026 will be announced here.
